The Iron Cross Challenge

The Sacramento Sheriff’s Motor Deputies will host and manage the Iron Cross Challenge. This event is meant to test your skills in slow riding and maneuvering your motorcycle. It will be carried out in single elimination head to head competition style. The ultimate winner of the entire competition will be awarded the grand prize for this event. Second and third place prizes will also be awarded.

Rules

This is an individual competition. The object is to ride within a determined area outlined by cones (see diagram) along with one other rider. The first rider who puts down a foot or rides out of the designated coned area is eliminated. The winner of the pair proceeds to the next bracket to compete against the winner of another competition. The competition continues through single elimination until a final winner is determined.

  1. Each rider will pay an entry fee of $30.00.
  2. Competition is open to motorcycles with 750cc displacement or 53 cubic inches displacement minimum.
  3. Two riders will be in the designated coned area (i.e. pattern) at one time.
  4. One rider will follow the other rider within the confines of the pattern wherever the first rider chooses to go.
  5. The lead (i.e. first) rider will be chosen by coin toss.
  6. If the second rider fails to follow the first rider’s line, the second rider will be eliminated.
  7. Each pair will have two minutes maximum time in the pattern.
  8. The first rider to ride out of the pattern or put down a foot is eliminated.
  9. No contact is allowed between the riders. If contact occurs, the rider causing the contact will be eliminated. The event managers will have final say in who “causes” contact.
  10. Either rider can use maneuvers like blocking the other rider’s path or stopping in the other rider’s path to attempt to cause the other rider to fault (i.e. ride out of pattern or put a foot down).
  11. If the time limit of two minutes elapses and both riders are still in the competition the first rider is eliminated.

Any disputes or disagreements related to this event will be resolved by event managers. The Event Manager’s decision is final!
